Schroth Therapy
FOR scoliosis
Scoliosis refers to the abnormal
curvature of the spine occurring in three planes (vertical, horizontal, and rotational).
It is divided into two main categories:
structural and non-structural scoliosis.
Structural scoliosis is further classified into
idiopathic (primary) and non-idiopathic types,
with idiopathic scoliosis accounting for 80% of cases. It typically begins between the ages of 10 and 13.
The patient's spine usually takes on
either a C-shaped or S-shaped curve.
Schroth Therapy is one of the key scoliosis
rehabilitation treatments promoted by our clinic.
It is a clinically proven, non-surgical exercise therapy
designed specifically for scoliosis patients,
both children and adults.
The method originates from Germany
and was developed by Katharina Schroth in 1921.
It focuses on correcting pelvic alignment, elongating the spinal space, stimulating muscle activity,
and rotational breathing exercises to strengthen spinal balance. This helps monitor changes in the curvature, improve posture, reduce the likelihood of pain.
As a result, enhance concentration,
improve confidence and quality of life.
The physical therapist will design a targeted, personalized treatment plan based on
a detailed assessment and adjust the therapy according to changes in the scoliosis
during the course of treatment.
Scoliosis patients may be affected on physical, psychological, and social levels. Research indicates that 68% of adolescent scoliosis patients
will experience worsening curvature. Additionally, 61% will start to experience pain related to
scoliosis in adulthood.
After menopause, the degree of
curvature may increase as bone
density decreases.
Regular check-ups are essential to
ensure one's well-being.
